Step by step
1. Start position
Sit on an upright bench with back support and feet planted.
2. Mid-rep
Finish with arms overhead and palms facing forward.
3. End of the movement
Reverse the rotation as you lower, returning to palms-in at the bottom.

How to do it
Setup
- 1Sit on an upright bench with back support and feet planted.
- 2Hold the dumbbells in front of your shoulders, palms facing you, elbows in front of the body.
- 3Brace your abs and keep your ribs down.
Execution
- 1Begin pressing while rotating your palms outward and moving the elbows out to the sides.
- 2Finish with arms overhead and palms facing forward.
- 3Reverse the rotation as you lower, returning to palms-in at the bottom.
- 4Keep the motion smooth — rotation and press happen together.
Breathing
Exhale as you press and rotate, inhale on the way down.

Common mistakes
Rotating fully before pressing
Blend the rotation into the press so both happen together.
Arching the lower back
Keep your back on the pad and use lighter dumbbells than your regular press.
Rushing the lowering phase
Control the rotation back to palms-in.
